Blogging Year in Review: 2025

The Year of Our Folly 2025 was as disappointing as I suspected it would be. This year's blogging total fell by 61 articles for a "grand" total of 95 articles. Applied Phantasticality decreased by 14, Decidedly 6-Sided decreased by four, Theoretical Swashbuckling decreased by five, Creative Reckoning decreased by eight, Savage Arts & Sciences decreased by 28, and Omnia Pro Omnibus decreased by two. Granted, my nonbinding overall goal is 72 articles per year, but my hope for at least 12 articles per blog per year was dashed for a variety of reasons I would like to forget.

As with last year, the annual blogging goal remains on hold. Who knows if blogs will even exist by the end of the year? Before long, we may be resorting to printing presses and messages in bottles if history continues on this path. Let's try to avoid it.

Blogging Year in Review: 2024

Most of 2024 was very strong bloggingwise, but the fickle finger of Fate had other ideas and my blogging promptly fell off a cliff—or, rather, was pushed off a cliff by larger events. I will not go into details here at this time. Despite the forces arrayed against my good mood, this year's blogging exceeded last year's grand total by four articles for a somewhat grander total of 156 articles. Applied Phantasticality decreased by 19, Savage Arts & Sciences increased by 22, Creative Reckoning increased by five, Decidedly Six-Sided decreased by one, Theoretical Swashbuckling decreased by four, and Omnia Pro Omnibus increased by one. There were no RPG zines.

This year, the Year of Our Folly 2025, I will not reinstate my annual blogging goal. I will be lucky if I can find the opportunities to play or write about role-playing games at all. When I can do either, I will simply be thankful. My hobbies have saved my life and sanity in the past. I may be calling upon them to do the same in our fractured future. I might continue with the monthly tallies, but it is too soon to tell. To my readers, thank you for reading, and I hope we will continue this adventure together.

Blogging Year in Review: 2023

In the year 2023, I faced many challenges to my blogging goals (some of which I brought on myself, such as adding another blog to the roster), but I nevertheless exceeded last year's grand total by 26 articles for a grander total of 152 articles. Compared to the previous year, Applied Phantasticality increased by 27, Theoretical Swashbuckling decreased by six, Decidedly Six-Sided increased by three, Savage Arts & Sciences decreased by five, Creative Reckoning decreased by two, and Omnia Pro Omnibus began its first year with nine. I produced no RPG zines for the third year in a row despite my misguided intentions, and so I add another graffito to the Great Stone of Challenge:

In 2024, I, Gordon A. Cooper, will post a minimum of one article per gaming blog per month for a minimum total of six articles per month. In addition, it is not beyond the realm of possibility I might create and publish one or more RPG zines. (Maybe?)

Blogging Year in Review: 2022

At 126 articles, I exceeded last year's grand total by 31 articles and my yearly goal by 66 articles. In terms of individual blog output, Applied Phantasticality increased by 24, Theoretical Swashbuckling increased by nine, Creative Reckoning increased by one, Savage Arts & Sciences remained steady, and Decidedly Six-Sided decreased by six. Alas, I failed to create and publish even one RPG zine. Nonetheless, I am etching it once again on the Great Stone of Challenge in addition to my standard goal:

Annual Blogging Goal Achieved 2021

My blogging goal for 2021 was to post at least one article a month for each of my gaming blogs, which now number five. Congratulations, me! I hope to keep up the momentum in 2022, but instead of increasing the once monthly requirement (or the number of gaming blogs, heaven forfend), I intend to add a separate resolution: to create and publish at least one RPG zine before the end of the year. This has been an unrealized goal of mine for far too long, so I have decided to etch it on the Great Stone of Challenge:
