I met this month's blogging quota in the span of three days. I might post a few more articles before month's end, but I must also prepare for Random Generator Month at Applied Phantasticality, which begins on my wedding anniversary, April the 1st. At any rate, here are the blog rankings in order of this month's postings.

Eleven articles in February is respectable. It's nearly twice my monthly goal, so I am not dissatisfied. March will be a challenge, though, as I am balancing two jobs now (but if anyone needs me to take up a third job, I'll gladly fit it in as long as it has something to do with writing, editing, public speaking, voiceover, puppetry, or theatre—let me know!).

Seventeen articles in January 2024 is not a bad start. I hope I can maintain the blogging momentum and find additional sources of income and manage to do more gaming this year. That's the threefold goal. I want to live my best life and not waste it fretting.

Not since the Blogging Status Report of Early June 2022 have I posted so many articles so early in the month. In the year 2023, I faced many challenges to my blogging goals (some of which I brought on myself, such as adding another blog to the roster), but I nevertheless exceeded last year's grand total by 26 articles for a grander total of 152 articles. Compared to the previous year, Applied Phantasticality increased by 27, Theoretical Swashbuckling decreased by six, Decidedly Six-Sided increased by three, Savage Arts & Sciences decreased by five, Creative Reckoning decreased by two, and Omnia Pro Omnibus began its first year with nine. I produced no RPG zines for the third year in a row despite my misguided intentions, and so I add another graffito to the Great Stone of Challenge:

In 2024, I, Gordon A. Cooper, will post a minimum of one article per gaming blog per month for a minimum total of six articles per month. In addition, it is not beyond the realm of possibility I might create and publish one or more RPG zines. (Maybe?)

And now... My total gaming blog output for 2023:

Applied Phantasticality: 82 articles

Theoretical Swashbuckling: 19 articles

November's blogging was a respectable if unexciting recovery from October's deficit: one article per blog. If I can regain some consistency in my schedule and income, my blogging productivity will improve. Fingers crossed.

And October's tally is even more disappointing than September's. The one article I posted for Savage Arts & Sciences is little more than a link to someone else's article. Maybe I'll do better before the end of the year, but it will be a challenge. I would like to increase my blogging output, and I would love to resume gaming (of the role-playing variety in particular), but I cannot accurately predict when either will be possible. Meanwhile, if anyone has any leads on writing, editing, or proofreading jobs that involve remuneration, please keep me in mind.

Peace.

September's tally was certainly a far cry from August's. Time is scarcer owing to the exigencies of survival at these space time coordinates, and my blogging has consequently lapsed. This is the lowest blog output of 2023, and I delayed posting the Blogging Month in Review because I've been working long hours and have had no energy to spare until now.

Technically speaking, I've reached my yearly goal for all of my gaming blogs except Creative Reckoning (which is one article away from the magic number of 12) and Omnia Pro Omnibus (which I didn't start until April, but it's keeping the monthly pace). I am disappointed, but not deterred. October is another month... in progress... because I'm posting this Blogging Month in Review late.

Better late than never?

Thanks to another RPGaDay challenge and my decision to post my answers daily instead of combining them into a single post at the end of the month (a decision made easier by the self-destruction of a social media platform that shall remain nameless), August was a stupendously productive month. I regret abandoning the daily answer format after 2017, and part of me wants to retroactively restore that format for the other years I participated in RPGaDay. It's something to consider if I get bored.

May was a sufficiently productive blogging month. This is largely due to an improvement in my employment situation, which enables me to use my free time more constructively (as I define it). Here's to an even better June.

All things considered, it was not a bad blogging month.

I intended to leave it at that, but I suppose I ought to mention I started a sixth gaming blog, and I probably ought to include it here in the monthly blogging roundup. Omnia Pro Omnibus is the official blog for my new role-playing game, Omnia. I still need to publish the rules, so the blog will likely remain sparse until then. Please bear with me.

I hope you enjoyed Random Generator Month in Applied Phantasticality.

April is Autism Acceptance Month. Autism is acceptable every month of the year. It is never too late to learn something new. Some good places to start are Paul Micallef's YouTube channel, Autism from the Inside, and Barry M. Prizant's book, Uniquely Human (as well as Uniquely Human: The Podcast).

March surpassed February by one article, and I forgot to post anything about GM Appreciation Day. I guess I wasn't feeling up to it. Regretfully, I've had other things on my mind. Although I don't have the liberty to put those things out of my mind, at least April will be another productive month bloggingwise, thanks to Random Generator Month (a holiday created and solely observed by me).

The second month of the year (in the span of four days) has yielded two articles per blog, although half of that output was admittedly a single article I posted to each of them promoting the Year 4 Kickstarter project for Accessible Gaming Quarterly. The campaign concludes on 9 March 2023, and I urge you to consider joining me in becoming a backer.

And now I shall think about what to do for GM Appreciation Day (or Dungeon Day as some are now calling it).

This was not a bad start for the year. Despite the increased demands on my time caused by my change in employment, I somehow exceeded my blogging quota by an impressive margin. Just think how much more I could accomplish if I were independently wealthy...

At 126 articles, I exceeded last year's grand total by 31 articles and my yearly goal by 66 articles. In terms of individual blog output, Applied Phantasticality increased by 24, Theoretical Swashbuckling increased by nine, Creative Reckoning increased by one, Savage Arts & Sciences remained steady, and Decidedly Six-Sided decreased by six. Alas, I failed to create and publish even one RPG zine. Nonetheless, I am etching it once again on the Great Stone of Challenge in addition to my standard goal:

In 2023, I, Gordon A. Cooper, will post a minimum of one article per gaming blog per month for a minimum total of five articles per month. In addition, I might create and publish one or more RPG zines. (No pressure.)

Here is my total gaming blog output for 2022:

December had almost twice the output of the previous month and I probably could have posted one more article to round it out, but I have decided to save it for January 2023.

As I predicted, November was challenging indeed. I am getting wiser, though, and for that I am thankful. Still, a bit of good luck can go a long way and I am not one to discard an opportunity these days. Somehow, I managed to meet my monthly blogging quota despite the odds, and I'm feeling hopeful about December.

October has passed and I managed to meet the bare minimum of my self-imposed monthly blogging goal. The same circumstances that beset me in September have continued to disrupt my writing and gaming. Blogging in November will be a formidable challenge. For now, though, I give you the results for October...

September was not the month I hoped it would be blogwise, and it marks both a decrease of momentum and a failure to meet my quota (one article per blog per month). Decidedly Six-Sided stumbled in the race with zero articles for the month (a first for the year), and the others hobbled by with one article each. It is regrettable, but explainable, for September has been a tumultuous month beyond my blogging hobby. I left a job I have held for 17 years to begin a new career, which is distracting enough, but something else occurred of even greater significance. I am still weighing whether to discuss it publicly.

If the blogs have been quieter in August, it's probably because it is the month of #RPGaDay when I tweet my answers daily and then compile them into a single article on the first day of September in Applied Phantasticality. Other than that, I have no idea what September will bring with regard to my blogging output. We shall see...

July was one article shy of tying June and probably would have exceeded it if I had found time to write the three additional movie reviews I intended to post in Theoretical Swashbuckling. Richard Lester, who directed the three movies to be reviewed, must wait. Meanwhile, I ponder whether to post my answers to RPGaDay 2022 daily or in one giant article at the end of August. No one offered an opinion when I sought them in Applied Phantasticality, so, maybe I'll flip a coin.

My top priority for June was to post two articles in Decidedly Six-Sided (see this poll for details), but alas, those articles have been postponed, and that blog comes in last place in this month's blog rankings. It wasn't a bad month overall, but I hope to do better in July. I predict Theoretical Swashbuckling will remain in first place.
